For over forty years the members of the Homestead Junior Woman’s Club have been dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Since 1975, our projects have included scholarships, assistance to Special Olympics, child abuse prevention, health fairs, the establishment of the Soup Kitchen, purchase of a K-9 dog for the City of Homestead, ongoing projects at the Community Partnership for the Homeless, ACS Relay for Life, as well as financial support to local, national and international charities.  Our fundraisers have ranged from our annual Rodeo Dinner and Dance, Brunch with Santa, garage sales, raffles, dog calendar and bake sales. Our contributions large and small have gone to the betterment of our community and to help the less fortunate. All of our accomplishments and contributions to our community could not have been done without a great love, sincerity and spirit of the women of Homestead.

Our Mission Statement ~ The purpose of this club shall be to promote civic and educational improvement and to create a charitable and social fellowship within the club and the community.

The Homestead Junior Woman’s Club recently had the privilege of presenting the Blynda Murray Memorial Scholarships to two local high school graduates. Blynda was a dedicated 12 year club member and past president. She had a passion for teaching and a great love of children and animals. Each year she chaired the club’s scholarship search with enthusiasm and pride. She gave of her time and resources selflessly, always caring about the needs of others and willing to lend a hand. Her untimely passing last March has left a void in hearts of all who met her, but the time spent with her will be cherished and the club will continue to share her love of volunteering. For this reason, the club decided to memorialize her by presenting their annual scholarships in her name.

Congratulations to our 2015 winners! Check back with us next March to apply for the 2016 Blynda Murray Memorial Scholarship or speak to your school's CAP adviser.
